2920 Sleep FAQ
What is the mattress made of?
We only use U.S., high-quality foams that are CertiPUR-US certified to ensure that they are safe, don’t contain harmful chemicals, and have a low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) rating.
The 2920 Mattress uses an exclusive combination of foams to provide laboratory-tested support, durability, and comfort. Our base and support-layer foams are structured to provide good edge support to avoid the feeling of falling off the edge that many other foam beds give. The top-layers are unique in that they do an exceptional job of dissipating heat and also provide firm-yet-soft support without making you feel like you are ‘trapped’ inside the bed.
To meet fire safety standards, the 2920 mattress is wrapped in a fire-protection sock, avoiding the use of dangerous chemicals.
The bed is then encased in our elegantly designed removable cover, which utilizes adaptive temperature control technology (similar to that used in sports apparel) to help maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature.
What Certifications and Safety Features does the mattress have?
We’ve used high quality foams in our mattress that are safe and non-toxic. The products are CertiPUR-US certified to ensure that they don’t contain harmful chemicals and exceed low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) ratings for indoor use.
We’ve also eliminated a lot of potentially harmful chemicals by avoiding the use of PBDE flame retardants and instead use a fabric “sock” that encases the foam and meets fire safety standards without needing to soak the mattress in additional chemicals.
CertiPUR-US certified, no ozone depleters, no PBDE flame retardants, no mercury, no lead, no heavy metals, no formaldehyde, no phthalates, low VOC’s, and 100% recyclable.
How does the mattress feel?
Not too soft, and not too hard. The mattress was tested by an independent lab to ensure it hit the target firmness that appeals to the vast majority of sleepers. We’re confident the 2920 mattress will meet your needs and help you wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested.
Typical comments and observations we’ve heard are:
- It doesn’t feel too soft like other beds we’ve tried
- I like that the edge of the bed doesn’t collapse when I sit on it
- It feels soft but I don’t sink all the way in – love the support it gives

Of course, any new mattress will require some time for you to get used to it. For most people it is less than a couple of days, but may take as long as a few weeks.
Can I try the mattress before buying it?
Yes! To lower costs, 2920 Sleep doesn’t have traditional showrooms and additional overheads which increase the product cost. To give you peace-of-mind, we let you try the mattress in your home with a no-risk 100 Night Trial.
In the future we hope to have the mattress available at select retailers. Sign up for our mailing list to receive updates on when you can find our products in your area.
Is the mattress recyclable?
Yes…and we’re glad you asked! Our mattress is made with all recyclable materials so no need for it (many years from now) to ever end up in a landfill.

What setup or foundation do you recommend for the mattress?
The mattress can be set up on any firm, flat foundation provided the mattress is properly supported. This includes a box spring or foundation, adjustable base, metal frame with foundation, firm platform base, the floor, “bunkie boards”, or a slatted base with unyielding slats thick enough to support the mattress.
Your existing foundation or box spring will work as long as it’s not more than a couple of years old – you probably need a new one if you notice broken slats or the box spring is sagging. Or, you can keep your existing box springs by placing a “bunkie board” on top. A bunkie board is a solid plywood or particle board that supports the mattress.
If you do need a new foundation, a good choice is a platform bed base which removes the need for a box spring and also gives you extra storage space under the bed.
Why does the mattress need a foundation?
A proper foundation will help your investment last longer. The 2920 bed is warrantied for 10 years if it has been placed on adequate support, and we expect it to last even longer if cared for properly. A foundation that doesn’t allow the bed to sag will help it last, as will rotating the mattress periodically.
Is there a break-in period?
You can start using your bed immediately. Within a couple of hours of opening it, the bed will be at – or close to – full size. As the bed inflates and breathes, if you notice a temporary odor, just air the room out. Otherwise you’re good-to-go! Just give yourself a few days to get used to your new bed.
Do you sell foundations or bases?
Not yet…but check back soon! We’re always working on high quality sleep solutions to add to our product lineup. In the meantime, we’re happy to recommend some of our favorites – just ask us!

How do I take care of my bed?
Here are a few simple rules to follow.
First, make sure to rotate the bed according to schedule to ensure even wear over its’ lifetime. During the first 6 months, you should rotate it every month. After that, every 6 months. Make sure to take advantage of our underside handles to help rotate the bed. And if you’ve given us your email address, we’ll help remind you when to do it.
Second, always have a fitted sheet on the mattress to keep it clean. If the mattress cover does get dirty, just spot-clean with a mild detergent. Try to avoid washing the whole cover, but if it has to be done, hand-wash in cold water and air dry to avoid any shrinkage. Do not tumble dry or bleach. You can also use a mattress protector but that may change the feeling of the bed.
Can I use an electric blanket with the mattress?
You can use an electric blanket or heated cover but we recommend using it at low temperatures as it may damage the mattress at higher temperature settings.
How does the 100-night trial work?
Give yourself a few weeks to get used to the bed. If at anytime during the 100-night period you find the 2920 mattress isn’t right for you just let us know and you will receive a refund of the amount paid. The Trial is only valid in the country purchased (e.g. currently just for US purchases to customers living in the US) and by the original purchaser. Note: if purchased on Amazon, then Amazon’s policies will take precedence.
What happens to the mattress if I want a refund?
By law, a used mattress cannot be resold. Because of this, and because mattresses are bulky items, this causes a significant environmental issue as they take up a lot of space at landfills.
Our goal is to have a local charity receive the mattress so it can be re-used. If that isn’t possible then we will do everything we can to have the bed recycled.
What is the 10-year warranty?
Your new 2920 mattress comes with a 10-year warranty, backed by our 3rd generation, US manufacturer so you can have peace-of-mind that the warranty is backed by a reputable and established business.
The 10 Year Full Replacement Limited Warranty means that for 10 years after you purchase your new mattress, if it has a defect covered under the warranty, the mattress will be replaced or repaired at no cost to you. This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser from the original purchase date of the original mattress purchased and is non-transferable. Any subsequent owner is not covered by the 10-year warranty.
If I purchase through Amazon, what is the trial and return policy?
If you purchase through Amazon, they currently have a 100-day return policy. Please note that for Amazon purchases, all returns and questions should go through Amazon’s support including how to arrange for pickup and refunds.
